The School’s Mission

The School of Government at the American University of Abu Dhabi (AUBD) educates individuals who will be leaders and change-makers in the region. Our programs combine rigorous coursework with opportunities to engage with government officials, policymakers, business leaders and philanthropists from across the region.

Our students come from all corners of the Arab world, and our faculty are dedicated to providing them with a truly global education. We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs in public policy, international relations, economics and management.

Our goal is to equip our students with the analytical skills and global perspective necessary to lead successful careers in government service or business. Faculty

The Faculty of the School of Government offers courses in public administration, finance, international relations and development, political science and law, and strategic studies.

The Program in Public Administration is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of public administration principles and practices. The course covers essential topics such as organization theory, public policy analysis, budgeting and financial management, information systems and data analysis, public communication, and leadership.

The Financial Management Course provides students with an overview of the financial sector including concepts of banking and finance, securities markets and investment analysis. Topics covered include risk assessment, capital market analysis and valuation techniques, financial statement preparation and SEC reporting requirements.

The International Relations Course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary international issues from a global perspective. Topics covered include global economic trends, human rights challenges within different regions of the world, terrorism & security issues across borders, regional conflicts & diplomacy.

The Development Course provides students with an in-depth knowledge of theories & practices associated with development interventions including microfinance & rural development banking; health care delivery reform; energy access; environmental sustainability; gender equality etc.
